This house is a super value and the location is great. We stayed at the Hale Kihei a couple of summers ago and loved it. My only complaint is that the air conditioner was removed from the living room and it was very hot and humid during our stay, so the kitchen and living room were both very uncomfortable. The bedrooms both had wall unit air conditioners so they were comfortable. We wouldn't stay at this location again unless an air conditioner was installed in the living room. Other than that everything else was nice!

Owner Response: Thank you for your feedback. Our guest's comfort is of the utmost importance and have expressed to the owner a need for an A/C unit in the living area and hope to have one installed very soon. We have had unseasonably hot and humid weather this summer and look forward to milder temperatures soon! Thank you and aloha!

    • Great Location and Great Deal

One of the best features of this house was the way the doors to the back deck slide open to make the living room and deck one. It greatly expands the living area out into the garden and gives you a very nice area for relaxing and dining. The house was well furnished with everything you would need for the week including linens and beach chairs. It has a nice layout with the bedrooms and bath on each end of the house. So the master had some privacy. If you are looking for something with an ocean view from the house then this is not the place for you. The deck still has a very private peaceful feel due to the trees and foliage around it. There is another house between you and the beach and Hale Kihei sits close to the street next to an apartment building. When sitting on the deck you can see a small sliver of the beach between the trees. You don't notice the traffic noise as much on the back side of the house where the deck and master bedroom are located. There is a path from the back garden down to the beach. This is a very busy beach so, go early for a good spot. The only reason that I did not give this 5 stars is due to the extremely loud traffic noise in the second bedroom. Also the second bedroom is very small with twin beds and tends to be rather warm. There is a window air conditioner in the room but, it was so loud it just contributed to the traffic noise. The rest of the house was done up nicely it's a shame they stopped with the smaller bedroom. Maybe a better air conditioner and some sound proofing would help. Overall though it was a very nice house. Just beware if you are a light sleeper.

Owner Response: We have found that most people use the air conditioner in the second bedoom to drown out the traffic noise, which seems to work pretty well.

We liked the location, close to the beach and easily walkable to restaurants and shopping. We lived on the beautiful big lanai. The bedroom next to the street was a bit noisy. It was clean and comfortable. The large bathroom with two sinks off the master bedroom was spacious and appreciated. We really had a great stay and would recommend it to friends.

    • Great Maui Experience. Beautiful Part of the World

The property at Hale Kihei was perfect for our visit to Maui. It was clean with all the usual modern conveniences/connections and located right by the beach. Most accommodation in the area is on the other side of the road, so this was a nice bonus. It is located within easy walking distance, both ways, from bars restaurants and local shopping. Health food store nearby and lots of opportunity to surf if you are just building your surf skills. We had a fantastic time and found it was easy to explore other parts of the island from where we were. I highly recommend this property, indeed we look forward to renting it again in the future. Enjoy your visit to Maui.

Really enjoyed our stay. Professional and on the mark for lovely experience. We did have a few issues with the dryer and microwave but to be honest we could care less as the property is so amazing. We are waiting for the security deposit to be returned (it is supposed to take 14 days) so as long as that happens they deserve more stars than listed.

Well appointed home in a terrific location. Steps from the beach and centrally located with restaurants, bars and grocery stores within easy walking distance. Great kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Large lanai with a gas barbecue which we made good use of.

We are two couples who stayed at this house situated on beautiful Kamaole Beach #1. The home had everything we needed in a beautiful setting. The kitchen had everything we needed for making full meals and the gas grill on the patio worked perfectly. There were many extra beach towels, beach chairs, a couple of boogie boards, and ice-chests. The home has a nice stereo in the living room and we set the dial to a local Island Reggae station which really set the mood each day. The home sits behind another home which is right on the beach, but it is a very short walk on a path pass this house to get to the sand. So close, that we would take our coffee cups down to the beach, and just walk back up for a refill each morning. The beach is very clean and not crowded at all. Many stores and restaurants are within walking distance. We used the safe daily and set the house alarm each time we left the home. Both worked perfectly. The lock box upon arrival worked perfectly and we were in the house within one minute of arriving. So relaxing and uncomplicated to pull into the driveway of this home, and be in the house in a minute, unlike staying at a condo or hotel where you have to worry about where to park, walking far to the condo/hotel room door, etc. Here you just pull up and it is like being home instantly, no wasted time. You can not really see the ocean, as the home in front blocks the view, but you can hear the waves. Two couples with kids could fit in this house also. As each of the 2 bedrooms have their own bathroom, plus there is a pull-out sleeper couch in the living room or people could sleep on the patio on the lawn chairs. The house was very clean.
